What is CAP?
The Community Action Partnership is a collaboration of community members including parents, youth, service clubs, schools, health care providers, social service agencies, businesses, community-based organizations and individuals. This community oriented group meets to evaluate and establish goals for the improvement of the Shasta Lake area and for those who live and work within the area. Once the needs of the community have been identified, CAP works with the city and its organizations to fulfill the needs of the people. This is done through the writing and application of government funded grants that are then applied to various areas and projects.

Mission
CAP began in January 2001 with the goal of achieving cohesive community action to improve the quality of life for all residents in the Shasta Lake area. CAP ensures community representation by providing a forum for residents and establishing leadership roles for citizens. CAP continues to work toward a safe and clean community that provides a healthy environment for children and their families through available and adequate health services, education and job opportunities, activities for youth, interactive community events, increased services for low-income households, access to affordable housing, and reductions in crime and alcohol and drug abuse.

CAP has been involved in many community activities including: City Celebration, Damboree Activities, Youth Advocacy Councils, Annual Damboree Kick Off Talent Show, Week of the Young Child (April), and the Community Garden. CAP has also contributed funds to many local projects including: CVHS All Weather Track, Shasta Lake Food Closet, Life Education Classes at CVHS, After School Activities Program, and Summer Activities for Youth. CAP also played an instrumental role in the organization and fundraising for the Twin Tower Memorial Project.
